About me
I grew up in Northern Connecticut with a very large family. I am one of four girls and we have sixteen cousins. As a family we were always together and some of my first babysitting jobs were for my younger cousins. I began babysitting regularly when I was thirteen and worked as a sitter until I graduated high school. I was also a camp counselor for three summers before heading off to college. I attended Western New England University and I graduated with a B.A. in History. I moved to New York and became a museum educator before becoming a nanny.
My first professional position was working as a preschool teacher, a job I had while studying at WNEU. As a school’s ‘float’, I had the chance to work in every classroom, but I spent the most time with 3-year-olds. I was responsible for leading circle time, creating projects, overseeing outdoor play, classroom maintenance, and food preparation. I then became an educator at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. While at CMOM I was responsible for leading story time, engaging guests in the exhibits, facilitating projects, and creating a welcoming environment for children. CMOM is a museum for all ages but the majority of the guests were 6 and younger. A museum guest suggested that I look into becoming a nanny and the rest is history.
I have worked as a nanny for the past ten years. During that time I have been employed by three wonderful families and each group was a unique learning experience. My first nanny family was a busy house with two boys ages 2 and 5. I was their caregiver for three years and was asked to relocate with their family to London, England. I then became the nanny for a family with two children, a girl age 7 and a boy age 5. I was with their family for 2 wonderful years and became a confident city driver and a capable family assistant. My most recent position was as an after school nanny for two boys, ages 5 and 7. I have been their nanny for the past five years and have really enjoyed watching two sweet boys become intelligent young men. As a live-in nanny I was responsible for grocery shopping, food preparation for the whole family, children’s laundry, driving children to and from school, scheduling and accompanying children to activities and appointments, traveling to the Hamptons, overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the home, homework help, and most importantly creating a fun loving environment for my charges. As an After school nanny in a live out position I was responsible for many of the same tasks (food preparation, accompanying children to engagements, and homework help) with the additional flexibility to work early mornings and stay late with short notice. To this day I still occasionally help my mom boss out with date nights and walking their new puppy!
I am a nurturing caregiver who believes conflict can be solved through redirection and high fives. I am sweet and easygoing, but I am not a pushover. I enjoy being a nanny because I get to help families on a personal level. Helping parents in their journey as caregivers is a wonderful part of being a nanny. Caring for children is a task I take very seriously and a privilege I find joy in every single day.

In 5 years, I hope to be...
An early education specialist. I have ambitions to earn my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and want to one day be an early intervention specialist for children with learning delays. I have worked closely with an early intervention specialist in the past and the impact she had on my charge and his parents was incredibly inspiring. I hope to one day be the individual to make that kind of positive impact on families as well.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
Is reading a good story. I have been an avid reader all my life and reading a book with a child is such a meaningful way to share your time. It is an activity you can continue well past adolescence and there are so many exciting book series that adults and children can enjoy together. I also really enjoy helping children appreciate music. It can be as simple as banging a rhythm out with a wooden spoon, creating a dance routine to their favorite jam or improvising songs that make no sense. Music is a fun and healthy way for children to express their feelings and it does not hurt that it can also be a great way to get the sillies out and refocus. However, my favorite thing to do with children is to get messy (but not too messy) in the kitchen. I really like to bake, especially cupcakes, and it is a blast to have kids helping along the way. They can be involved in every step of the baking process from a very young age. It also encourages their creativity when using the icing. It a project that combines artistry and a basic science project and can be a really fun way to pass a rainy afternoon.
