About me

I grew up in Colombia, just outside Bogotá on my parents' farm. I loved playing in the field with my cousins and farm animals. I graduated as a Business Administrator from the University of Cundinamarca in the city of Fusagasugá and later I did my Masters in Environment and Local Development at the Francisco José de Caldas District University in the city of Bogotá, Colombia. I worked as a business advisor and subsequently worked as an administrator of the Cantarrana Ecological Park in the city of Bogotá. The majority of projects and activities we developed there were educational and ecological activities aimed at children and young people. My desire to expand my knowledge pushed me to come to New York 9 years ago to dedicate myself to learn English at Hunter College, and I decided to pursue a career as a nanny where I was able to teach Spanish as an added value since I have always had a special gift to relate to children.

During my tenure as a nanny, I especially remember working with an adorable 1-year-old boy. As his nanny I was responsible for cooking nutritious meals, playing with him in the park, and making sure that he was entertained throughout the day with his toys and stuffed animals. I also taught him to organize his toys and to pronounce some words in English and Spanish. After spending a year with Joaquin, I started working in Hoboken with two sisters who were 7 and 5 years old. I was responsible for picking them up from school and spending the afternoon with them playing in the park. I was also responsible for providing healthy after-school snacks, helping them with their homework and creating fun projects that would engage their interests in arts and crafts. Subsequently, I began working with another family in Tribeca with an 8 and 10- year- old.

In addition to my love for children and young people, I love psychology, nature, and languages. I am excited to continue my work with children and help families thrive.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

A clinical social worker or therapist. I would like to keep working with child and teenage development.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

A couple of years ago I became a community health worker and I realized that mental health is very important for the development of children, and for the past 6 years I have dedicated myself to learn how to help them develop good mental health habits to strengthen their personalities and build the resiliency needed to become well-adjusted adults. Also, I can teach a second language while we are playing, and something really good from my personality that I would like to share is that I am a very positive, creative, and resilient person.
