About me
Growing up in Seattle, Washington I enjoyed many of the same activities that I still love today; art, music, dance and theater bring joy to my life. I take my work with children as an opportunity to bring creativity into everyday routines, and am especially suited to caring for kids who have a passion for the arts. After high school, I left Seattle to attend Bard College where I majored in studio arts. Upon graduating Bard, I worked in Manhattan as a muralist and then moved back to Seattle where I worked as an arts educator and substitute teacher.
The child of two educators, I spent time growing up helping out in my mom's preschool classroom and my dad's summer art camps. My movement into education and childcare has felt like a natural process. I've worked with children of all ages, ranging from the age of 1 through 15, with the bulk of my experience working with ages 4 to 8. Frequently working as a date night babysitter through high school, I took on regular roles with several families as I got older. Typical daily routines included pick up from school, preparing healthy snacks, taking care of family pets, help with homework, simple dinners, and bedtime prep.
I have taught summer camps, lead before and after school arts classes in performance and visual arts, and always incorporate creative projects into my days spent nannying and babysitting. Whether making comic books, designing menus for imaginary restaurants, or learning songs to perform, I bring a creative spark to my work with kids. I seek to provide a nurturing and fun presence in the lives of children I work with, and offer structure and guidance paired with lively energy and humor.

In 5 years, I hope to be...
In five years I hope to be further developed in my fields of work. I am interested in working in museum education and as an illustrator for books and magazines.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love to sing and play piano alongside kids, and work with them on art projects like books, comics, and fashion design. I engage in imaginary play and give kids the green light to dive into their creativity. In the past I have introduced children to simple stop-motion animation skills and drawing lessons. I am happy to supply projects and work with parents to come up with a casual arts curriculum that suits their child's interests if this seems like a point of interest!
