About me

I grew up in Houston, TX and I had a busy childhood filled with school, theater, dance, sports and lots of singing. We also moved to a home with lots of property where we had emus, sheep, lots of cats, and a pot-bellied pig. I caught the theater bug early when my mom exposed me to touring companies of Broadway shows at a young age and it didn’t take long for me to become involved in my local community theater. I eventually went on to get my Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma City University and then moved to NYC to pursue a career in theatre. I’ve been fortunate to go on adventures all around the country and in New York City with many shows. I even got to travel with one to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last summer.

I began nannying for a family in NYC shortly after finishing college when a friend booked a cruise line and recommended me to take her place. I was caring for two incredible little girls, ages 2 and 4. They are still family to me almost 10 years later. When I began I worked at least 3 full days a week and my duties ranged from school pickups, traveling on the train/bus to activities and play dates, making meals, helping with homework, preparing the girls for bed, and even stayed over weekends alone when their parents travelled. I have found so much joy in getting to be a part of their lives and their early development into the wonderful young women they are.

It is incredible to be around children's creative brains and take moments to appreciate the things around me through their eyes. I was walking quickly down a street near my house, rushing to get something done before work, when a little girl ahead of me stopped and exclaimed to her adult companion with such joy about a flower she saw. It was the most beautiful flower she had ever seen and I found myself stopping too to look at it and thinking about how many things I miss in life racing from one thing to the next, and how refreshing a child's perspective on life is. I love getting to be a part of a child’s day, encouraging them to explore and play, question, and appreciate what is around them. I love engaging with kids and catering our activities to their interests, whether it be playing dress up and creating a make believe world where the children are princesses or Jedi in training, to enjoying arts and crafts projects and reading books. I do not just sit by and watch them and I am not afraid to get dirty in the sandbox or with an art project and fully enjoy all the activities they want to do. While I love having fun with them, I do have the ability to remain firm when it comes to discipline and work closely with the parents to make sure I maintain all the rules and values they want their children to follow. I have spent time caring for a wide range of ages, starting from 3 months to 14 years old.
