About me

I grew up in the beautiful state of Vermont. I have a younger brother who I love with all my heart. As a child I was a total bookworm. I loved historical fiction and would play elaborate make believe games. Those games turned into a passion for theater and I went to Northwestern University where I received a degree in Theater and History. I am an ACT/SAT test prep tutor for students ages 15-17 where I get to help students through a stressful time in their lives.

My first childcare experience was with my little brother, but through middle school and high school I was an occasional date night babysitter for children ages 2-10. I also volunteer at a camp in Vermont where I lead the Teen Leadership Program, and run a dance class for all ages. I have worked as a lower school after school teacher at North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka, IL, where I ensured that everyone was accounted for and was safe and happy. I now teach four weekly early education on the Upper West Side. During the pandemic, I worked three days per week for two amazing girls, age 6 and 9, both with learning differences. I served as emotional support, entertainment, and teacher while they were finishing out the year with distanced learning. Most recently, I spent 2.5 years as an after school sitter for two boys, who were 9 and 11 by the time I left. We created a really special bond, and I loved forming a routine with them. Both kids also have learning differences, and I served as homework support during the school year.

I feel that empathy and understanding are two incredibly important things to instill in children from a young age, and I believe wholeheartedly in meeting a child where they are and striving to understand through challenging moments. I love bringing make believe and music into playtime, and I value mindfulness and emotional intelligence in all interactions. It is such a privilege to be involved in the development of a young person's life and it is my goal to be the most positive influence that I can possibly be.
