About me

I grew up in Bogota, the Capital of Colombia. My two big brothers used to take care of me when my mom had to work late. I loved to ride my bicycle and hike with my neighbors. Before graduating school I did my internship at a public kindergarten. I assisted the teacher preparing homework, sang and played with the children (2-5 years old.)

I volunteered in foundations to accompany young people with disabilities and teach them to read and write. From that moment I thought to study Psychology. After I received my degree I worked in a company as a human resources coordinator and kept volunteering for a foundation. Later, I studied Safety and Environmental Management. After working for big companies, my interest in learning English made me want to travel to the United States. Here I met people who needed help with their children. Thanks to my career and experience working with children and teenagers, I feel confident looking after and teaching them Spanish. I started helping a mom with her three girls, ages 1, 3.5, and 6. I assisted another family taking care of their 4 year old boy. I also had the opportunity to teach Spanish to 2 boys. During that period I took a course about teaching Spanish to children at Cervantes Institute. During holidays and summer, I work for families who come to NYC for vacation. Last year, I worked during weekends for a family with 7 year old twins and a 9 year old girl to practice Spanish with them. I also picked them up from school, and took them to appointments and play dates.

My concern about many aspects of our society makes me want to take action and do everything I can to raise emotionally intelligent children with critical minds, values, and respect for the environment. It is very important to invest the best education and care in our children because they are society's core.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Reading, dancing, creating stories. I always reinforce social, behavior and motor skills. I also love to teach them Spanish because it is challenging for me and fun for kids.
