About me
I am a student at Hunter College, who is in her last two weeks of obtaining a degree in Elementary Education. I am currently student teaching via remote instruction, and will be obtaining my teaching certification in June for grades K-6. In addition to my teaching background, I also have a background in acting and have 8 years of babysitting experience.
Growing up in the theater community I was influenced greatly by the teens and adults I performed and rehearsed with. My experience in this community helped me realize how important it is for children of all ages to have positive role models in their lives and influences me now in the way that I care for children. I love to play, be imaginative, cook and converse with the children I work with. I also love to read books, and come up with new and fun voices for characters that bring stories to life. I believe it is incredibly important for children to feel safe in expressing who they are and what their needs are, and I encourage communicating in a positive way.
In addition to my theater background, I have also been in school for the last 3 years studying Elementary Education. I have worked in NYC classrooms with students ages 6-11 for the past 2 years, and was student-teaching full-time in a first grade classroom before schools closed. My experience with teaching and obtaining an education degree means I have extensive knowledge of child development and exemplary education practices. I believe this, along with 8 years of babysitting experience in NYC, makes me a uniquely qualified childcare candidate.
