About me

I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and am the only child in my very tight-knit family. As a child, I loved the outdoors and was actively involved in every sport that my parents would let me participate in, mostly swim team, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball. I also was and still am an avid reader. I played the violin and piano growing up, but am not particularly gifted musically and decided to pursue athletics instead. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Biology and Business and then obtained my masters degree from University of North Texas Health Science Center in Medical Science, where I learned the inner workings of the medical field, taking classes on the social and scientific aspects of medicine. Upon graduation from my masters program, I worked in Emergency Rooms throughout Fort Worth, Texas as a scribe for physicians, completing their charting, shadowing, and pending medications. These vast and varying experiences have continued to provide me with the opportunities to work with kids, whether that be through babysitting, mentorship, or volunteering. My passion for working with kids and families is very important to me, and why I have continued to work with children throughout these different phases of my life.

I have babysat since I was in the 9th grade, working as a date-night sitter, tutor, camp counselor, nanny, part-time babysitter, and athletic coach for infants through high schoolers. I babysat one child from the ages of 3 months to 3 years old, feeding her, cooking for her, and staying overnight when the parents went out of town. I have cooked for families, done laundry, walked dogs, driven to and from school, and organized pantries and closets. I have worked with children with special needs while being a summer camp counselor in high school and was involved in Best Buddies programs throughout college. I have worked as a camp counselor for day camp at the Fort Worth Zoo, where I was in charge of around 25 children, from ages 3-15, depending on the week, with two other counselors, touring them around the zoo. I worked as an overnight camp counselor for 15-16 year old girls in Central Texas and served as the field sports counselor, organizing games for campers in my class. I also volunteered as a sports camp counselor for volleyball, softball, and basketball camps. I also babysat for neighbors during this time and taught summer classes at my high school. I worked with younger students, tutoring them in basic sports skills, math, and science.

Working with children allows me to have a part of my day that I will always look forward to, even when work or school is challenging. Working with kids allows me to feel connected to families and to be active.
