About me
I grew up in Westchester County, New York with my younger sister and parents. As a child, I loved to do art projects with my sister and make up creative games. I will never forget my favorite babysitters who helped nurture this creativity. I graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies and Studio Art. Since graduating I worked at two very different camps––one LGBT teen camp geared primarily towards socially anxious and depressed teens in Massachusetts where I worked with 15-year-olds, and a family camp in California, at Yosemite National Park, where I worked with young children and families. My degree and childcare experiences have given me a solid understanding of best practices for facilitating creative environments that support developmentally appropriate growth.
I am passionate about both the arts and close relationships. I always try to integrate the two when caring for kids. I love to travel and meet people from all different backgrounds, which shows up in my love for caring for children and getting to know different families. I believe that open communication with families and building strong relationships with children is crucial for a healthy working relationship, which often includes the privilege of being allowed into and trusted in someone’s home. I am always mindful of the fact that children are extremely impressionable and that my relationship with them may play a significant role in who they become as they mature.
