About me

My childcare philosophy can be summed up with what I can say "yes" to. For example, I'm not going to let a child stay up way past her bedtime, but I might be able to say yes to reading one more book. Embracing creativity within structure helps me connect with each child.

As an insatiably curious and creative person, I have always loved working with children. My first job was at a summer camp for children with ADHD, Bipolar and Aspergers. I was a counselor in training and loved every minute of it. This work spoke to me because I have ADHD and Dyslexia, which means I have a lot of experience and empathy with these challenges. I bring that experience to my work with kids. An example of what this looks like in action is if a child is struggling to focus on their homework, I might suggest setting a 15-minute timer and telling the child, "let's see how far you get," then taking a break.

I grew up in Michigan and I have an older sister and a younger brother. I went to Alma College where I studied political science and was an active member of my school's Model United Nations team. During college, I did a number of political internships. After graduation, I lived in Chicago and worked in retail and got involved in improv comedy. I also discovered a talent and love for art and decided to go back to school at Wayne State in Detroit where I studied textile design. I recently moved to NYC to pursue a career in art and design. My end goal is to be a working artist. I currently take classes at the Art Students League.

Prior to moving, I was a favorite babysitter in Grosse Pointe, Michigan for a few select families. It was a privilege to be part of these families' lives. One of the moms I helped was working and in law school when I started watching her two children. She ended up having another baby while in school, so I helped watch her newborn and toddler every week while she was in class.

I genuinely look forward to connecting with you and your family and helping meet your family’s needs.

A working artist and teacher.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love doing art projects with the children I babysit. I oftentimes bring age-appropriate art supplies. The most exciting art project I've done with a child was when I helped a 10-year-old dye fabric and block printed a pillow for her room. It was so exciting to see how proud she was of the work she did. I also love knitting and sometimes knit little stuffed animals for children. Good food is a passion of mine and I enjoy cooking and having fun with children in the kitchen. I also love the outdoors and am an experienced hiker and camper.
