About me

I grew up in Stamford, Connecticut and was the youngest of 4 children. My siblings are much older than me, so my first nephew was actually born when I was only 7 years old. I am the aunt to 6 nephews and 4 nieces! I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing and Psychology at Susquehanna University, a small liberal arts college. For three out of the four years I was in college, I was a Teaching Assistant for the Introductory and Intermediate Creative Nonfiction writing courses. That was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Currently, I'm in school to receive my Master of Social Work degree from Columbia University.

Since my first nephew was born when I was 7 years old, it feels as though I've always been surrounded by children, and caring for them. During high school I had the opportunity to be a camp counselor at an all girls sleep away camp. I was a counselor to a cabin of ten girls, between the ages of 7 and 8. My co-counselor and I would help foster personal growth, leadership, and confidence in our campers. I also taught arts & crafts, writing, baking, and badminton courses throughout the summer for campers between the ages of 7-14.

I think Dr. Seuss sums up working with children perfectly with the phrase, "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you!" Kids have such a curiosity and excitement for learning and figuring out the world. It's a hope for me that every child I get to work with, I can help them remember how important their creativity and individuality are!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to be working as a social worker with at-risk and LGBTQ+ youth. I also hope that in about 5 years I'll be in a place where I am able to start a private practice. I also hope to be living in Burlington, Vermont one of my favorite places in the world. I also hope that in the next 5 years I've learned to play the piano! An ongoing goal I've had for myself.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach children to play guitar and bake or cook. Those are activities that I always find myself doing in my spare time, and one that translates well to a childcare setting. I also enjoy taking children on nature walks and help them navigate and understand the environment around them!
