About me

I grew up in the mountains of the Poconos, a place many New Yorkers know for its skiing and hiking. Growing up in a one parent household, I often found myself caring for my younger sister. My passion for education was sparked by my grandmother and followed me into adulthood and through college as I received by Bachelor's from Temple University in Education. One of the most important aspects of childcare is educating the whole child through understanding, engagement, and respect. This is an idea that I live by.
As an older sibling, I spent a lot of time taking care of my younger sister. As I got older and moved away to college, I continued to care for children as a part-time babysitter. My summers "home" from college involved working as a counselor at a sleep-away camp where I was quickly promoted to a division leader and , soon after, assistant head of girl's side. This job allowed me to work with children from ages 7 - 18 and assist them in social-emotional development, goal setting, and encouragement to be their truest self. This job required me to oversee 200-250 children daily and provide a fun, safe environment to thrive in. I have a lot of energy that suits all ages. I have worked with students ranging in grades 1st - 8th and have led a full classroom of 25 4th grade students. For the past year I have worked as a freelance nanny to children ages infant - 9 years. Prior to the pandemic I worked as a full time nanny to two boys, ages 3 and 6. We loved to go on outings to local parks, make arts and crafts, and build a lot of lego creations. Additionally, I have infant care experience including; diaper changing, bottle feeding techniques, and because of my background in education, I am familiar with Piaget's cognitive development stages.
To circle back to the idea of educating the whole child, this is truly something that I believe is paramount if the next generation is to successfully rule the world, so to speak. Teaching children how to love, respect, and empathize with one another starts by modeling that for and with them. This is where my job begins and, ultimately, ends: the success of my children and the future generation.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to have earned my Master's Degree in School Counseling and be working in a middle school applying that degree to it's fullest extent. Connecting with children on an emotional and intellectual level is something I care deeply about. This is where I see myself in the near future.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Self expression and reflection. This is something I believe is often overlooked. Teaching and helping children become independent is extremely important. One of the most integral parts of this is teaching them how to productively express their emotions and manage their relationships with one another. I also think fostering a love for reading is very important. As a child, my mother told me the easiest way to learn is through reading. This is something I took to heart and hope to instill in as many children as possible.
