About me

Born and raised Brooklyn human right here! One can often find me singing and dancing around the neighborhood or apartment, while balancing it out with some horizontal time to read, nap, or watch a documentary. I am a shuffle dancer, kickboxer, and yogi. I am a little sister, a friend, a daughter, a Teaching Artist and an Advocate against DV/IPV. With an innate fascination regarding crime, behavior and emotion, I worked diligently to complete my CJMA from CUNY John Jay in 2021 as well as my BA, also from CUNY John Jay in May of 2014.

I have 15+ years of experience with children of all ages in various settings. I have been babysitting since early high school for neighbors, family, and friends. I started working as an Assistant Teaching Artist at a nonprofit theater program in 2005, and in 2012 I became a full-time Teaching Artist. This will be my eighteenth summer working with this company. A past boss deemed me "the sweetest drill sergeant", alluding to my gentle, compassionate, adaptable, and goofy approach to life and work, while also being fierce, bold and strong in placing boundaries and managing challenging moments with others. I value truly connecting with the kids and families I work with. It is important to me to be a united front as I would become a present third party for and with you!

My growing skillset and education regarding childcare, fitness, and criminal justice drives me to work closely with children as I appreciate being a sweet and strong caregiver providing specific support supporting the needs of those I work with. Given personal experiences and curiosities, I started doing yoga in 2014, kickboxing in 2018, and dancing in 2020. Physical outlets can be hugely supportive and exist differently, and I love being able to incorporate that, even if it simply means going for a daily walk, or attending specific classes to finetune a new skill. Seemingly small moments and choices can lead to some of life's most beautiful moments, which is how I move through my days - I appreciate the little things adding up to big and beautiful experiences.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In five years, I simply hope to continue my journey and focus of lifelong healing, unlearning, and learning. I have released the traditional expectations of building a specifically set career in an office setting, and made way for experiences that cultivate joy and growth. As I a former SmartSitter currently updating my profile from three years ago, I can joyfully report that I check off all of my previously listed items the last time I filled out this application which included working as a DV advocate with victims' services, receiving my MA and picking up a new skill in dancing :]

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

revolve around some combination of being silly, musical, and athletic. My approach involves honing in on the things they are curious about and fostering a sense of safety and joy for them to explore and learn. I think its the little things that count, which is always at the forefront of my mind when I share space with others.
