About me

This past May I graduated from Bard College, a small liberal arts school in upstate NY, with a dual degree in Photography and Written Arts. I spent the first seven years of my life in New York City before moving across the country to Los Angeles. I’m really excited to be back in the city I so loved as a young child!
In college I worked twice weekly for a family with three girls aged 3, 5, and 7, all of whom were rambunctious, creative and prone to bickering. I often helped calm them, played with them, prepared meals and bathed them/put them to bed. During the school year I cared for a brother and sister aged 7 and 9, respectively, who loved sports and board games. I took the kids to/from practice, made them dinner and helped them with their homework. As an artist and writer I love doing crafts with kids and taking them to children’s museums or the library, reading out loud, and playing pretend. I think kids are tiny, sensitive geniuses who are often especially attuned to the weirdness and wonder world, and I love seeing that world through their eyes.
I’m a lifelong avid reader. I love poetry, sci-fi/fantasy, critical theory and art criticism. As a photographer, I’m fascinated by old-school photographic processes and love analog printing in the darkroom. As a quiet, bookish child I often felt misunderstood and shy, and appreciated when a grown-up was willing to take the time to really talk to me as a person, rather than just a kid. I hope to provide that experience to other kids, and to be both a caring, comforting, and fun figure at this vital time of life.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

finishing grad school? An artist? A teacher? Who knows!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love doing anything creative with kids, especially drawing and writing. I'd love to teach kids how to use a camera, especially film, because I think it's valuable as a reminder, in our digital age, to slow down and carefully consider your picture. I like reading, taking walks or bike rides, baking... I'm really up for anything!
