About me
I grew up in the city of Chicago, with one younger sister, my parents, and two cats. As a kid, I tried every creative activity from ballet, to choir, to art classes- you name it. My true love came in the form of a musical theatre summer camp, and the thespian me was born! From there, and many countless hours of rehearsals later, I went to The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University for Acting. I recently graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts. Since graduation, I moved to New York and began auditioning in addition to working with children in the afternoons. I love spending time with children as it provides a wonderful reminder to laugh and create.
I've worked with children for as long as I can remember. From a junior summer camp counselor, to occasional date night gigs, I did it all! While I was in college, I was able to care for children more regularly. One 3-year-old boy I would babysit on occasional nights, had an awesome playset in his backyard. We would play "lava" and monster games together before dinner. We would finish with bath time, and a few long books before bedtime. Another family I sat for included two girls, aged nine and fourteen. Because they were older, our time together felt like hanging out, it was a lot of fun. I would pick the two girls up from school, take them home and supervise homework (I would help when needed!), prepare a small dinner or snack, and then drop them off at possible after school activities.
While I have some experience with infants, I am most comfortable with toddlers through teenagers. I have experience with children with learning disorders and/or 504 plans and IEP's. I have light experience with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
While going back and talking to your younger self is impossible, hanging out with kids and young adults is probably as close as you can get. Teaching empathy and compassion, and the ability to create and explore without the glow of a screen, is important for the next generation. I hope to bring smiles and love to every family I get to know!
