About me

I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. With a teacher for a mother and an architect for a father, my love of learning and art started at a very young age. My older sister and I grew up pursuing a variety of art forms; my first love was dance, and by high school, I was passionate about art history, photography, and drawing. I received my BA from Kenyon College, with a degree in art history. After pursuing jobs in museum education and as a high school art history teacher, I decided to go back to school and I received my Masters of Education in Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

I've been working with children since high school, when I had my first babysitting position caring for the children of my dad's colleague. In college, I volunteered at the local elementary school in the music and art classes. I followed this interest during my summers, and interned at the de Young Museum in San Francisco for their Art in the Summer program, working with 4 to 11-year-olds. Upon graduating from college, I was hired as a museum educator for a contemporary art exhibition in San Francisco, where I interacted with school groups daily. Before enrolling at Teachers College, I taught art history at an independent school in San Francisco. Since moving to New York, I have worked with three families. During my first year, I brought two siblings, 4 and 6, to school in the morning. We would take the bus, and always make sure to bring a book of a drawing pad! I subsequently provided care for a 5-year-old as a date-night-sitter, who loves to make art and we would draw and paint for hours. My most recent family had an 8 and 11-year-old boy; with these two kiddos, we would play sports, boardgames, and card games.

I love making art with kids and learning more about how they play with materials and what they love to draw or paint. I think it is so important to engage kids in conversation, and learn more about them and what they love to do. Lastly, I believe in bringing warmth and happiness to every childcare position I hold.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I studied art education so I love to make art with kids. My main medium is drawing, but I love exploring all materials and experimenting. I am also trained as a museum educator and I enjoy discussing art with children. As an avid reader, I love reading with kids and helping them to improve their literacy and reading comprehension.
