About me

I grew up in St. Paul, MN. As a child I loved all creative pursuits: dance, drawing/painting, music. I attended the University of Minnesota as an undergrad and received my BFA in painting. I just completed graduate school at New York University where I acquired my MFA. Since graduation I have been exploring the city a little more deeply, attending art shows and making paintings. I love working with kids because I love being creative with kids, they are so expressive and I think my arts background makes me a really fun and inventive nanny/babysitter because I am on their level, having never lost my imagination.

I worked with children my whole life off and on. My longest running babysitting/nannying gig was for a family with a little boy who was one year old (when I started with him) and five (when I moved to New York). I helped him learn how to do many of the formative things a child does in life and it was really rewarding to watch him grow. I would cook him food, change him, feed him solids and warm his bottles. I helped potty train him, helped him learn how to walk and helped him learn how to read! Which was incredible to witness. I've been a full-time nanny for infants and babies, a part-time babysitter and a date night sitter. I generally take the kids on walks (in strollers and on foot), change diapers, warm breast milk bottles, play with toys and do art projects, read to children, put them to bed (bedtime routines), bathe them, feed them baby food and solids and prepare full and balanced meals. I have the most experience with infants - approx ten years of age. I also do light housework and run errands to help out the parents.

I love making art and music. I am a very compassionate, intuitive and creative person and I think kids are incredible because they have so much sensitivity and power! They are examples of how adults should be when adults have forgotten what's truly important. I am motivated to work with kids because I really value them, their insights and visions of the world are very inspiring to me and I love to help them cultivate their interests and give them confidence and support.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Working with kids or young people in some capacity still. Maybe teaching art in school. Also maybe having a kid of my own.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

(I feel like I am being super redundant but) painting and art making. Reading/literature. Music.
