About me

I grew up in a small town outside of Philadelphia, PA. I was raised by two extremely loving parents, alongside my older sister. Our household was filled with music and art – I took up singing and acting as a kid, and went on to receive my B.F.A. in Drama at NYU Tisch, Class of 2019. Since I essentially just received a degree in "make believe", I knew that working with children would be the perfect post-grad fit!

I was introduced to childcare while at my summer camp, French Woods, where I was a counselor-in-training. For two summers, I worked with children at a family resort in Maine. I was primarily hired to perform in the children's show "Schoolhouse Rock Live", but also took advantage of volunteer babysitting opportunities for the guests. Each night during adult dinner, those kids went to 'Treble Hall', where we'd come up with creative activities and games to play. I was able to get reacquainted with my "inner child", and met some really awesome kids (and parents) throughout those weeks. Also at this resort, I worked in the Housekeeping department, where I was trained in how to clean thoroughly and efficiently– crucial skills which I've held onto! Since beginning at SmartSitting, I've worked with individual children as young as three, as well as groups of differently-aged kids at community centers around the city, and at a high-profile members-only club in downtown Manhattan. I'm attentive to varying needs, skilled at managing multiples, and have lots of practice navigating the balance between compassion and firmness.

As I've transitioned further into post-grad life, I am continuously impressed by the passion and drive of the generation younger than me. Children have honest, innovative voices that deserve to be heard; when I was a kid, my thoughts and feelings were often written off because of my young age. I strive to listen, validate, and treat children with as much respect as I would any adult. Society has plenty to learn from the uninhibited nature of the way kids think; it's a privilege to be welcomed into the imagination of a child, and I intend to jump in without an ounce of irony.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

working on Broadway or at a comparable theater, devising my own work, deeply integrated in activist movements, executing a healthy relationship between work and relaxation, and continuing to surround myself with loved ones.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Art! As a kid, I would be content for hours with nothing but paper and my markers. I love drawing with kids, and seeing what they come up with. I also enjoy talking through spelling and grammar, as well as basic math; working with children on their homework is fun for me. Additionally, I think it's fascinating when children dream up games, scenarios, and intricate worlds from their imagination. I love to brainstorm with them, and join in on 'avoiding lava', 'using forcefields', or whatever it may be...
