About me

I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and I have lived there most of my life. I have one sister, who is six years older than I am. Growing up, I really enjoyed imaginary play with my friends, and I loved reading books. I graduated from Meredith College in December of 2018 with my bachelor’s degree in psychology. Since graduation, I have moved to Brooklyn, and I work at an elementary school as a 1:1 behavioral assistant. While in college, I worked at the Meredith Autism Program, providing ABA (applied behavior analysis) therapy to children diagnosed with autism. It was during my time at the Meredith Autism Program that I knew I wanted to work with kids as a career.

I have been a date night sitter for various families for many years. I have also worked for a nannying agency in Raleigh, NC where I provided on-call babysitting as needed. I have worked with one family as a date night sitter since 2009, and I have loved seeing their children grow up! I have also worked with three other families as a regular date night sitter since 2017. I have experience working with kids between 6 months old to 12 years of age; however, most of my experience is with kids between 1 and 5 years old. During a semester of college, I worked as a part-time babysitter for a family with a 10 month old son. Most of my responsibilities have included diapering, naps, cooking basic meals, bedtime routines, light cleaning, and playing with the children (arts and crafts, toys, imaginary play, the park, etc.). I am certified in CPR and First Aid, and I also hold my Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential from my time providing early intervention with preschoolers who had autism.

I love working with kids, because it’s fun to be silly and creative and do things they love to do! I find it really rewarding to be a part of a child’s life and watch them learn and grow up. My biggest take-away from my child psychology class in college was the importance of goodness of fit between the child’s temperament and the environment – I always strive to follow after the child’s interests and hobbies and encourage them in those areas.
