About me

I grew up in the South Bronx and spent my childhood summers in Puerto Rico with my father where my maternal and paternal families still reside. I am the second youngest, I have two older brothers, a younger brother and an older sister. As a child I enjoyed performing for my siblings whether through dance routines or runway shows. I graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a bachelors degree majoring in Psychology and Spanish as well as a minor in Latin American and Caribbean studies. I joined the NYC Teaching Fellows for four months after graduating and realized my passion lied in creating change for children in a different setting. I then worked within the general preventative services within a community based organization and then enrolled in my graduate program at Silberman for Clinical Social Work. After my expected graduation from my graduate program in 2020 I plan on applying for licensure and earning my clinical hours to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for children and youth with my own private practice.

I've essentially worked with children my entire life, from taking care of younger cousins to professional experiences in most of my employments. I've babysat a child from the age of one to six on call through weekends as well as daycare/school. From picking her up in her home and doing fun activities within my home or the city, such as visiting museums. I have also worked with second and third graders as a day camp counselor for the YMCA summer camp taking the children on city trips and excursions. I was also a middle school tutor within my undergraduate towns middle school for sixth through eighth grade. During my time abroad I had the opportunity to volunteer at an underserved daycare in Guayaquil, Ecuador, providing educational aid and care in Spanish. Within the NYC Teaching Fellows I co-taught a bridge classroom with second and third graders with different abilities depicted within their IEP's. And most recently, I had the opportunity to facilitate social emotional groups within an after school program at a community based organization in East Harlem.

I love learning, learning from others especially children. I truly believe working with children is a partnership in learning, we always both gain something beautiful.

A licensed clinical social worker still gaining all the experience necessary to open my own private practice working with children and families.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love learning about new cultures so instilling a love for differences is what I love to share. Being bilingual and spending a lot of my childhood in the Caribbean also influenced my love for sharing the values of community and integrity.
