About me
I grew up in Bellerose, NY until middle school when we moved to New Hyde Park, NY. I am the oldest of two girls. I spent my childhood heavily involved in playing tennis and dancing and I spent most summers growing up at summer camp in upstate New York. I originally went to college at University at Buffalo for International Business and then left to work full time at a software company. I returned to college at New York University to study speech-language pathology and completed my B.S. in May 2019. I will be returning for my M.S. in September 2019.
As the older sibling, I helped my family out by watching my sister when they would go out for a few hours a night. I started volunteering for the Friendship Circle in high school which paired volunteers with special needs children ages 4-14. I was responsible for fostering relationships, communication, homework help and fun activities. I also began working for a Hebrew school at this time working with first and second graders on reading and writing Hebrew. I worked in the capacity of teacher's assistant as well and helped to create fun activities for learning about the holidays. In 2016, I was the morning babysitter for two boys ages 6 and 8 and would prepare them for school every morning from 6-8:30 AM. The younger brother has Cerebral Palsy and is in a wheelchair, and the older brother ADHD. I was responsible for administering medication, preparing breakfast, dental hygiene, making sure that the younger brother used the bathroom before getting dressed, dressing, homework help and preparing for upcoming exams. I also was responsible for engaging morning activities when there was no school work to be done. I worked with another family on call in the mornings as well as after school care and date nights. The children were 6 and 9 when I started, and I was responsible for maintaining their routines, taking them to scheduled activities, homework help and preparing fun engaging activities.
