About me
I was raised in Laurel Canyon, CA with my little brother, seven years younger than me. Make-believe, reading, playing piano, making theater were my childhood pastimes . In 2018, I graduated from Wesleyan University where I studied Theater and American Studies. Now I am working as a free-lance producer and director, a Production Assistant for Showtime, and am on the Marketing Team at CPR-Center for Performance Research in Brooklyn. I am seeking babysitting work because I love working with children and I want to get to know more communities in Brooklyn.
I have held a myriad of part-time babysitting jobs since I was 13 years old. I still sit for a family of three children, that I have been working with since the siblings were 2, 5, and 7 years. Now the eldest is almost in high school! As they were (and continue to be) highly active children I would play with them outside for most of the day, making sure that each kiddo was included and considered. By the end of the day, I would cook dinner and we would wind down with calming activities like drawing, storytime and bathtime! In college and high school, I was a peer tutor for writing and language arts. I have been CPR-certified since middle school and I have experience with special needs children. Driving around Brooklyn in my trusty blue Honda Element named Elliot is one of my favorite ways to relax.
Growing up as an older sister, I learned early on that the deepest wisdom and the most profound solutions come from kids! As a babysitter, I believe in listening holistically to each individual child; recognizing their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and ethical needs by exploring the world through a sense of fun and creative play.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
- Multiples
- Special Needs
In 5 years, I hope to be...
Graduating from Theater/Performance Studies grad school, working as a producer, director, curator in New York City and around the world!
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love teaching Sun Salutations to kids and discovering all the ways our bodies can fold and stretch! When we have to stay inside, I like to draw, bake, and pay dress-up/make-believe. When it's nice out, I like to share the natural world with the kiddos and stretch out legs!
