About me
I grew up in a small town in Connecticut, where our house was always jumping with activity: along with myself, my parents had my two older sisters, my younger brother, and all manner of pets to keep them busy. My family has always teased me for being so talkative, but I just love learning someone's story. This genuine love of people has carried over into my education: I recently graduated from Fordham University with a double major in Psychology and Anthropology and a minor in Classical Languages.
Eager to do everything my older sisters were doing, I started babysitting in middle school and have worked with kids ever since. During summers in high school I was head counselor at a local museum day camp, where I helped immerse children in the history of our town. I also interned with a Montessori preschool, and I often employ their philosophies when babysitting. The three families with whom I most consistently worked each comprised of three siblings ranging in age from 9 months to 13 years. I babysat several times weekly after school, on weekends, in the evenings, and occasionally overnight; on recommendations from these parents I often babysat for families who needed a sitter in a pinch. All of these situations involved various responsibilities beyond simply supervising playtime, including transporting children to and from obligations, preparing and serving meals, ensuring that bath time, story time, and bedtime ran smoothly before the parents returned, and creating games and activities to keep children engaged and happy while in my care. Recently, I worked as a paraprofessional in a program for students with special needs; this training, along with CPR and first aid classes, has prepared me to care for children who might not thrive with inexperienced caregivers.
After participating in a Global Outreach project that allowed me to volunteer with children in Romania, I have become especially grateful for the time I spend with children at home. Because of severe disabilities, these children were abandoned by their own families; it broke my heart that so few people cared for them, and I resolved to cherish every moment I have with all the children with whom I work.

In 5 years, I hope to be...
Traveling more! I think it is so important to see as much of the world as you can, and I would love to explore the places from which my family came. (Now that I have graduated from Fordham University, I plan to pursue my master's degree and potentially my PhD in forensic psychology.)
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love showing children that you can make your own entertainment without screens or toys. Cat's cradle, hand games, word and memory games, and so many other brain-powered games can combat boredom instead of a phone or tablet. I try to encourage whatever interests my kids might have, regardless of whether they last a week or a year. I love teaching them how they can research and learn more about anything they like, especially when we visit the library.
