About me

Hello Families,

My name is Ashley and I am a New York State Certified Mathematics Teacher for grades 5- 9. I have been working with children for over 10 years now. My career in childcare began with newborns/toddlers, over the years I have worked with children up to 14 years of age.

Being a teacher and a nanny I am able to bring two very different but valuable aspects to the table. I have a passion for teaching young minds and exploring so many topics through education. On the other hand, my experience as a nanny allows me to have fun with children and create fun and engaging activities outside of the classroom. I believe in letting children follow their passions and want to be a part of this community of amazing sitters because we do just that. I begin by identifying the interest of children and create meaningful activities that will further their passions. I know how important this age range is for both mental and physical growth and being able to help guide that growth is what motivates me. I love seeing children excited to learn, they don't even see it as learning, they see it as fun.

I know I am doing something right when I can walk away from the day and a child had an amazing day full of adventures.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Some activities and skills I love to teach children would have to be problem-solving. Problem-solving can relate to so many different aspects of life, it can relate to academic as well as life skills. I want to share with children that if they have a problem we can pause and think of steps they can take to get through the moment. This helps children become independent thinkers as well as creative thinkers. I would also like to share my fun bubbly side with children. I love to have fun and "let my hair down" and just be in the moment. Have a dance contest, create a relay race, or build a tent with the intention of camping in the house. So many possibilities to have fun.
