About me

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. I grew up in a suburban life, and then went to college at Point Park University, PA, where I graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in Acting (and I was lucky enough to be the graduation speaker!). I moved to NYC shortly after graduation, and have been working as an actor, teacher, and babysitter.

Most recently, I've been performing in "Pinkalicious the musical" with Vital Theatre Company, as part of their off-Broadway NYC cast and national touring cast. I also study improv comedy and every now and then, direct plays!

I taught children's theater camps while I lived in Pittsburgh for six summers, and in NYC, I work for Williamsburg Movement and Arts Center where I teach on-site at public schools in Brooklyn. I teach acting and singing to middle schoolers. This spring, I am directing "Seussical the musical" at one school.

I have also worked as a babysitter for the past two solid years. I love working with kids, and as much as it is work, I also view it as a time to have fun with the kids, so it's almost like a little playtime for me too! Since I am an actor, playing make believe, singing songs, and being creative is my specialty! Kids teach me lessons of patience and also how to see the fun in the most mundane of activities, for instance, making clean-up into a game or a challenge. I believe that children are at their best when they are engaged in something, and they truly have an eye to know if someone cares about them. If I care for them as people, not just as "kids," with that comes respect and a relationship. I also really believe in treating children fairly--not being hypocritical in my actions. If it's something they aren't allowed to do, I prefer to explain why, not just say no.

I've worked with kids ranging from 5 months (duties included: diaper changing, bottle feedings, formula-mixing, bathing, putting down for naps or bedtime, songs, stories, going to the playground, teaching numbers, letters or colors, etc) to 13 years (duties included: after-school pick-ups, homework help, transporting from school to home, taking to hockey practice, dressing in gear, dinner prep, etc).

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to do arts and crafts, coloring, painting, or any project that allows the child to create something they can keep and treasure. I also love cooking and baking with kids, it's a good day-in activity. I love to teach them little songs that I sang as a kid or make up new songs with them. As far as teaching moments, I really try to teach manners, respect, and communication, like talking through feelings or voicing wants or talking through a heated sibling argument. I kindly try to remind them of Please's, Thank You's, and Excuse Me's as well.
