About me

Hello! I’m Amy and am so happy to be a part of the SmartSitting community. My babysitting experience began essentially when I was old enough to be home alone myself - since I was 12 years old. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to work as a camp counselor, a professional tutor, and a full-time nanny, to name a few. I feel fortunate to have worked with children of all age ranges, from infancy to high school, and to have experienced working with children at all stages of their development.

One thing I love most about working with children and young adults is their uninhibited imaginations. As an actor, writer, and filmmaker, I believe having a full imagination is one of the most important tools we can cultivate and take care of, and I see it as my responsibility to make sure it is stretched to its fullest potential when in my care.

As a professional tutor, I see first-hand how jam-packed and hectic children’s lives can be, and as a result I strive to find as many opportunities for creative exploration and play for them as possible when in my care. Every day is a new opportunity to learn, to grow, and to play, and I bring that mindset everywhere I work. I also love helping children with their homework and school projects!

As an English and Theatre graduate from Barnard College, I love to read, write, make and tell stories and share those skills with the children I work with. I pride myself on my excellent communication skills, and love to help the children I work with learn how to communicate more clearly verbally and in writing. These are skills they can take with them for the rest of their lives! I am a strong proponent of meeting every child exactly where they are, and from there finding fun and creative ways to stretch and grow, one step at a time.
