About me

I grew up in Severna Park, Maryland, a suburb of Annapolis. With two older brothers and an active imagination, I was always drawn to music and the arts. This led me to lessons and choirs and ultimately to study music in college in Tennessee. I met my husband and we lived for two years in Nashville before moving to NYC, and I am so excited to be back north closer to family and in a city with such musical diversity!

I have worked with children of all ages over the last 10 years. I studied music and music education with extensive courses in childhood development and learning. This also entailed student teaching in elementary and middle school placements and working with children with special needs. One summer I had the opportunity to be an au pair in Florence, Italy for two girls, 4 and 6. It was a challenging and beautiful experience. In 2014 I joined the staff of Girls Inc as a program coordinator. I worked with a group of girls ages 6-8 each day after school. I both developed and implemented programming for healthy living, academic enrichment, and life skills, in addition to outreach, event planning, and various admin responsibilities. In March 2017 I began working as a nanny in Nashville. When I began there were two children ages 1 and 3, and in my second year there was a new addition. I walked through 3 months of maternity leave assisting the mother with both the other children and the baby. Because of this experience I am extremely confident with newborn care- sleep schedules, feedings, and major milestones. In this role I did lots of cooking (I love to cook!), arranged play dates, ran errands, tidied and laundry, while engaging each child and building a loving and safe environment for them.

I value creativity, respect and structure and utilize my experience in both traditional and non traditional settings. My experience with Music has taught me so much about collaboration, communication, and creative problem solving that I use as I work with each child. Open communication with you, the parent(s), is top priority and has led to success in each of my previous roles. I look forward to meeting you!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to be having children of my own and actively working in theatre.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I believe the following skills are so important for children, even at an early age: critical thinking, curiosity, creativity, kindness, a desire to learn and accept failure as growth, and positivity. I love to teach them about music and encourage them to try new things. I also encourage reading and a love for the imagination and the outdoors
