About me

I grew up in South Central Los Angeles, California. I am the youngest of four from parents of El Salvador roots. Growing up, my parents planted the seeds of knowledge and creativity deep within me at an early age. From grade school to high school those seeds grew and while an undergraduate at the University of Southern California I realized that my tenacity for acquiring knowledge was most passionate in the subject of learning about psychology, social work, art, art education and youth development. I used my knowledge in these forms to set a foundation for the type of work I am most passionate about, working with youth.

I’ve had the pleasure of working at one of LA’s largest arts education non-profit, Inner-City Arts, where I worked hands-on and administratively with K-12 youth, adults and families as the Program Coordinator. For me, its more than just the art, but rather an opportunity for children to feel seen, heard and valued, so confidence and sense of self could grow, social-emotional learning could thrive and traumas and stressors could be supported mindfully. I’ve learned that the real impact and meaning to my life is to be in service for youth development and community engagement.

When babysitting I would like to focus on all things related to the care of the child. I seek to bring peace of mind and worry-free time for any parent. I would love for any parent to have the confidence in knowing that their child(ren) are in competent hands.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I would like to continue playing an integral part in advancing a more equitable education and cultural ecology by working on connections to increase access, justice, equity, and inclusion within the arts for youth and communities. I envision myself working with youth and families. I hope to empower myself with the erudition to be more than just a voice in the crowd, but a courageous and bold advocate for social change who takes action towards building a stronger educational foundation for youth and communities. On my personal life I hope to grow my embroidery and fiber art practice. I hope to be connected to an artist community and share more of my work with loved ones. I hope to travel with my family to a tropical relaxing place in Central America. I constantly ask myself who do I want to be in this world? I want to fulfill the highest truest expression of me as a human being, connect with others around me, find significance in the service that I am doing, and be a force for good in this world. I want to look back and be so proud at all that I’ve accomplish.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

are painting, crafts, reading, baking, cooking, dancing, and using the imagination to dive into the creative process. While taking care of my 6-year-old niece we loved to learn about stop motion animation and we would create our own stop motion videos on the ipad. I hope to share these skills with any child(ren) that may be interested. I also played soccer for 13 years and I love the outdoors. I've participated in obstacle course races and enjoy the excitment of it. I would love to share the joy of playing outdoors and learning about teamwork and the importance of practice while having fun and playing outside. Along with the fun activities I would also like to help out with their homework and build creative ways to help them understand the homework if they feel stuck. I would also like to share with them the importance of responsibility and cleaning up after playtime/activity.
