About me

My childcare experience dates back to intermediate school when I was 13 years old and couldn’t wait to create my own business (Carly’s Babysitting Service). I used to put up flyers and hand out business cards! I Did a lot of night-time babysitting for kids all around the neighborhood and once I was old enough to drive I took jobs in neighboring areas. I had lots of regular gigs and even put together my own “Babysitting Fun Bag”. I would hop on over to the craft store and buy paper/coloring books, stickers, markers..anything that I thought the kids would like. I would make sure the bag consisted of age-appropriate activities and it was always a bit hit, with the kids and parents. To help the parents more I would always tidy up the toys and kitchen when I had downtime. I remember the parents always being happily surprised the dishes were put away!

My babysitting gigs have continued throughout my college career and now well into adulthood! I’ve been full time with the same family for about 8 years. I’ve helped with everything, from getting babies on nap/sleep schedules, diaper changing, making baby food, buying groceries/running errands, scheduling classes and playdates, to tidying up and assisting the family when needed.

I’m also a photographer and have had the pleasure of photographing many families throughout the years! I’ve always loved photography and children. I didn’t realize I had a knack for making kids smile in front of the camera until I took my first job out of college at a portrait studio. I’ll never forget one of my first customers who came in during the holiday season. She gave me a look. That exasperated “here we go again” look and told me right away “My child never smiles for the camera but we NEED this holiday card!” I didn’t really understand what she was worried about, as I was very confident in my ability to talk to children and make them feel comfortable. The result was a happy child AND parent! I was pretty excited that I could make it a breeze for them too.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I see myself a little more settled in my career as an NCS (Newborn Care Specialist). I'll have a good amount of experience under my belt with a nice amount of work coming in. I'll be doing my photography as well. A nice mixture with plenty of flexibility and time for me to travel and enjoy life.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to get outside with kids and taking them on nature walks or urban city walks! I love to show them animals and plants and teach them kindness to all living things. I love to play with them on the playground and help them to overcome any fears they may have with the gym equipment or other kids on the playground. Teaching them to share and be kind is definitely something I enjoy showing them. In the house, I like to show them how to keep their toys tidy and pick up after themselves. I tend to talk and sing to them a lot!
