About me

I am a compassionate, reliable, and energetic babysitter graduating from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College this May. I have been an active babysitter and nanny since 2012 working with children and infants from 3 months old to 12 years old. During college, I nannied for a family with a 7-year-old boy and 11-year girl. I picked them up from school every day, helped with homework and prepared dinner. When I moved to New York in 2013 for a job at a non-profit, I began doing occasional evening babysitting for families in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn to establish a sense of community in my neighborhood. Since then I have worked with over 7 families with children ranging from 9 months to 10 years old and currently still babysit for five families occasionally.

In the mornings, I worked with an infant beginning when she was there months old. During this time, I was responsible for managing her morning naps, bottle feeding and creating engaging activities for her curiosity and development. As she grew older, I helped the family with sleep training, took her to local music classes, and supported her developmental milestones like rolling on her tummy, sitting up and eventually, crawling. I would spend the remainder of my time with the family preparing a meal for the parents. In the afternoons during the same year period, I picked up a 3-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl for school every day. After school, I would help the older sister with homework, facilitate play-dates, drive them to after-school programs, prepare dinner and create fun and creative activities. During the summer months, I took them all around the city from a day at Coney Island to an afternoon adventure Museum of Natural History. We called this time, "Camp Chloe" and had a blast. I also cared for a 5-month-old girl two to three days a week for there months. I spent the entire day with her which included managing nap times, meals and engaging activities like walks around the park, music time and reading books. I helped the family prepare organic homemade purees as she began eating solid foods and helped with light housekeeping.

I love working with kids and partnering with parent's goals and values. As a babysitter, I pull from my background as a therapist to bring intentional care into the social and emotional development of children and see my role as a support for children as they navigate big, new, overwhelming emotions. As a caregiver, I pay attention children's developmental needs and believe in providing a comforting structured environment, so kids feel safe and supportive while also prioritizing their freedom to express themselves and practice cultivating their independent spirits.

As a social work student, I have worked with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges and have experience helping families implement effective behavioral reward systems to better support their children's growth and well-being. I am passionate about child development and understand the importance of attachment and engagement with infants in their early years of development. I am a firm believer in creating an environment that fosters stimulation for infants including playing music, spending time outside, and exploring activities that spark curiosity and imagination.

While I'm all about validating feelings, I also care a ton about having a blast while doing it. I pride myself in capturing kid's interests and talents and running with it. If a toddler is all about Elsa and Frozen, let's put on a musical! If a school age kid is discovering their love for space, let's use arts and crafts to build a model solar system.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to engage kids in my love of food and cooking. I think food and cooking can be fun and educational activities for children across the age ranges. For toddlers, this can look like pulling out the aprons and baking their favorite cookies or making something simple like granola. The tactile process of measuring, mixing, and shaping is both a blast and also an opportunity to increase their sense of agency and confidence. For school-age kids, I love identifying a type of food they love and helping them go through the process of planning, preparing and making a meal to spark their creativity, help them understand collaboration and build up their independence. In addition, I love to help kids discover ways to utilize their environments for creativity and fun. These days, screens seem to be fighting for children's attention and I believe in helping kids discover a world of options outside of TV and screens. If it's a rainy day, I'm a big fan of building a fort, reading books and baking a cozy snack. If the weather is nice, I'll pack my portable hammock and head to the park. And more often than not, I'll turn to music. Whether is a game of freeze dance, the background to a make-shift puppet show or a tool for setting a calm and relaxing tone to unwind, music is my go-to babysitting companion. My work with infants pulls from the same philosophies I mentioned above, used alongside my child development education. This looks like creating opportunities for infants to engage their curiosity with pictures, sounds, and textures. I'll read books out loud to introduce them to language, play music to stimulate their senses and create safe and engaging environments for them to explore new skills like rolling on their bellies, sitting and crawling.
