About me

Since I was nine years old, I knew that I wanted to work with children from admiring my favorite teacher. I wanted to become a teacher as well and have a class of beautiful minds, learning in a productive classroom environment as I was exposed to. For the past 15 years, I have been working with children because I love contributing to their development and growth. I learn from them everyday through interactions and conversations. Working with children is not only a rewarding experience for me, but it has taught me patience and responsibility. I aim to provide a positive, structured and safe environment for them and still have fun while learning.

For the last 18 years, I have been employed with the Board of Education as a Paraprofessional. I have worked in various classroom settings with children requiring daily medical or behavioral assistance like cognitive disabilities, autism, etc. In terms of age groups, my experiences covers a vast range from preschool to middle school children. In fact, my job responsibilities include but are not limited to one-on-one or small group supervision, and strengthening behavior by the use of effective behavioral support. I have worked as a babysitter for the past five years with various families all over New York City. I have worked with families with infants to families with teens. I have babysat siblings as well as assist on play dates with multiple children.

Being nurturing, energetic and patient comes naturally to me. I am the mother of a teenage girl who is my best friend. We enjoy traveling the world together or staying locally to take advantage of all the great events and places in New York. Working with children is my passion. I babysit on weekends, summer vacations and weekdays when school is not in session. I have also tutored middle school aged children (3rd-5th grade) in reading, grammar and phonics. I have my Bachelors Degree in Human Services; concentration in Child and Youth. I interned for two years at a preschool which later hired me. I am CPR certified.

I am a city girl at heart. Exploring New York City is something I love to do and often take the children I am babysitting on public transportation to various parks and playgrounds throughout the city. Safety is very important to me and I am always focused on the child in public places. There is so much going on in New York and getting out is a great way to explore, stay healthy and have fun. My personal motto is to be kind. Kindness to others is a way of showing understanding and respect. I practice kindness daily which often leads to positive interactions.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope to be working in my own classroom as a teacher. I will have my masters degree completed and will be following my dream of being a certified teacher.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I am a kid at heart so playing child friendly games and making slime is always a great time. While working in a classroom, I help children build on their reading, writing and math skills. That includes grammar, fine motor, and problem solving.
