About me
Hanging out with kids never feels like work. They're silly, fun, weird, honest, courageous, and loyal. I discovered this circa my first teaching job at 16, and it's driven me to do more with my arts education career. As a member of the education staff at the New London Barn--one of the premier theaters in New Hampshire--I've helped oversee and expand a rapidly growing education program that now includes scores of summer camps and a children's theatre season that runs in repertory. I've sometimes been tasked with keeping a dozen grade school kids entertained for four to five hours, or teaching the mechanics of Shakespeare to middle schoolers. From choreography to playwriting classes, I've done it all, and succeeded!
I’m a natural fit for this career because I’m a total goofball myself, and I try to maintain an imagination that matches my kids. With my students I’ve thrown dinosaur dance parties, had contests for the most dramatic stage death, and sponsored mass-mask-making parties. I’m acutely aware that children are our future, so I also incorporate elements of mindfulness and empathy into my lesson plans, with the hope that they’ll blossom into well-mannered, thoughtful adults.
