About me

I grew up in New Mexico, Arizona and Georgia and spent a lot of my time as a child involved in gymnastics and ballet. My formal training for both gymnastics and ballet gave me a strong sense of responsibility, discipline, safety and fun. I moved to NYC 14 years ago to pursue a career in ballet, but shifted to acting after I was sidelined by injuries from the dance world. I still enjoy going to the ballet and love to rock out with some Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky when I'm babysitting. I've found that you really can't pick up anything bad from classical music. I went to the University of Arizona for my freshman year of school, studied film at Hunter College and completed a 2 year conservatory program for acting. Along with pursuing my own acting career, I recently starting teaching acting to children. I find the imaginations of children to be always inspiring.

I started babysitting in NYC over 9 years ago. I have spent a lot of time over the last 5 years as the after school sitter and super pal of a now 9 year old boy. While watching him, I prepared snack, helped with homework, took him to activities, occasionally participated in after school activities with him, took him to museums, played mini golf and sometimes prepared or would order dinner. He recently out grew having me around all the time, but I still fill in for occasional date nights. I have also spent the last 2 years occasionally babysitting a now 3.5 year old girl. We read, go to Twinkle Playspace, paint, color, and go to the park. I also prepare snacks and meals, change diapers and give baths. I was also around for potty training and have some experience with that. In addition, I have also worked part time with an agency that assigns me to bookings for ages 3 months to tweens.

My style as a babysitter is very "go with the flow". I'm coming into their world and it's my job to honor the needs of the family, keep their child or children safe, and see each child for who they are as an individual. I also like to make sure we get any responsibilities taken care of... homework, chores, brushing their teeth, whatever it is, we will get it done. And, hopefully, have a whole lot of fun in the process!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Teaching acting to kids and have a recurring role on a television show. And, perhaps don't mention this to my boyfriend, but I also hope to be married.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Acting is at the top of my list, but I also love reading with children and sitting down to draw or paint or color. It's hard for me to resist a box of crayons. I also consider myself a rather skilled Uno player. I've been known to deal a game or two of War, as well. NYC's fabulous museums are another great activity to do with kids when time allows or if the weather is too cold for the park. I also love talking with them and hearing about their lives. Children are far more aware than the world often gives them credit for, and their take on it all can not only be refreshing, but inspiring.
