About me

Coming from a family of seven, I have watched over my own siblings from a young age. When I was 14-years-old, my I was paid weekly to help an 8-year-old with his homework. That is when I realized how much I enjoyed being around children, helping them, and talking to them. At 19, I started working with the NYC Department of Education and my love for working with children quickly grew. I have been working at the NYC Department of Education for fourteen years now with 4-year-olds through 15-years-olds. I have my Masters Degree in Social Work. My plan is to always work with children. I absolutely LOVE kids! I love how they view the world, their resiliency, their courage to continue to learn and try new things, and their ability to adapt and overcome challenges and grow.

In addition to the DOE, I also worked with two private families. With one family, I babysat their two children for nine years. At the beginning, their first born was 4-months-old and I helped them until he was 9-years-old. Their second born, I watched from 2-months-old to 5 years old. The other family, I worked with occasionally for three years. Their son was 4-years-old and their daughter was 10-years-old when I started.

What I love most about my work with children is being able to support and connect with them while sharing and giving a part of myself. As exciting it is to learn about children, it’s equally as exciting allowing them to get to learn about you and it's fun answering the creative questions children come up with! I love sharing stories about the places I have traveled. I also love involving children in cooking and especially baking cupcakes where we can all decorate them together! When working with children, I strive to create a space where they are comfortable being their unique selves; a safe, supportive and trusting space where they can express themselves, work together to solve challenges, and most importantly...a space to have FUN! My joy is impacting the lives of children and families.
