About me

I have been working with children since middle school when I helped teach dance to the youngest aspiring dancers at my ballet school in Princeton, NJ. Since then, I have worked and lived in New York for over 15 years and babysat in various locations including, Brooklyn (Park Slope, Dumbo, Williamsburg) and New York (UWS, UES, Tribeca, Harlem).

The perks of babysitting in New York are to my mind endless. I love bundling up the stroller, bike, board (or Bjorn) and hitting the pavements to explore this wonderful city. Grab some crayons and lunch, and sit at the Met for a few hours drawing and making up stories. Take a nap or have quiet time while telling tales under the whale at the Natural History Museum. Walk by a deli and smell ALL the flowers with a child (that can entertain for 30 minutes!) and you can practice colors and respect nature for FREE!

I am a responsible, calm presence that engages, interacts, runs around and plays with the kids I am hanging out with.
I love to play, engage, listen, instill social responsibility, and maintain the structure and rules that parents have set forth for their children. I like to try and enforce a "clean up with toys after we play with them" rule. The Kondo babysitting method? Only play with toys that bring you joy? I have worked with all ages, including twins and toddlers, and am easily capable of engaging with multiple children and various ages at the same time.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I like to create an organized time and space that allows for imagination and creativity. I think the simple task of making a decision on what we should accomplish for the day, talking through where we will go and how we will get there builds good building blocks for learning responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. Then this allows for time to explore and be creative without restrictions because the logistics have already been considered and discussed by the children and adult. For example, (and this is age dependent of course) if I am going on the bus with a toddler to the Children's Museum, we talk about how many times the bus will stop before we get off and turn it into a game where we study the map and work on counting. We do this while discussing what we are going to do at the Children's Museum: What floor should we start at, Dora or the Firetruck? What time the activity/musician will start? Then, TRY to do what we said...
