About me
I grew up in the Cape Cod area, as a middle child of 4 girls. I have 2 little sisters and even as a kid I loved to help take care of them. I am a nurturer, which led me to pursue the field of child care and child psychology. I went to undergrad at Boston University; I majored in psychology and visual arts. My interests in art and psychology led me to study Art Therapy- an field of mental health counseling that incorporates aspects from psychotherapy and the creative arts process. I moved to NYC for graduate school to study Art Therapy. Throughout college/ grad school I accumulated in depth knowledge about child-development and child care.
I have over 10 years of professional experience babysitting. I’ve worked fulltime, part time, and as a date night sitter, both seasonally and year round. I’ve worked with children with developmental delays, cognitive disorders, and medical illness. I have experience working with children from infancy- adolescents. Some of the tasks I helped with were; transporting children from home/ school/ extracurricular activities, preparing food, diaper changes, enforcing structured time to do homework or practice musical instruments, dishes, laundry, bathing, night time routines, and running errands. Also as part of my clinical training, I worked at a therapeutic preschool for children with ASD and other cognitive disorders. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into institutions, and the homes of a multitude of families to support the needs of children, families, and communities.
Coming from a therapeutic background, I am kind, nurturing, patient, compassionate, trustworthy, and sensible. I have a high patience tolerance but I also know how to set boundaries and limitations. I value education, creativity, play and as fundamental for children to grow to their full potential. I am an art lover; I believe that art is a great vehicle for children to explore their world, express themselves, strengthen fine motor skills, enhance creativity, and develop a sense of mastery and autonomy.
