About me

Hello! My name is Anna Moskowitz, and I am a recent graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University. I have lived in New York City for over four years, and have loved getting to know families from all across the city through SmartSitting.

I am originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I quickly developed a passion for theatre as well as arts education. I began babysitting at the age of 14, watching the younger siblings of friends and children of my parents' co-workers. I continued working with families over the next few years, and due to my involvement in the arts community found myself chauffeuring child actors to auditions and nannying the children of adult actors in dressing rooms during long performance days.

As I grew older I became involved with a summer program hosted by my high school's community education department. For two summers I served as the lead teacher for over 15 individual morning and afternoon classes for children aged 5 to 13. I taught classes centered around topics ranging from science to painting.

In addition to the summer program, I continued my work as a sitter periodically throughout college. I also spent two of my college summers working in arts education. One summer I was an education intern at the Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis. I assisted with performing arts classes for youth ranging from pre-school age to high schoolers. Through this experience I developed my ability to think creatively and spontaneously, as well as to adapt to a variety of learning styles.

I am a 2019 graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University, where I studied theater directing and psychology. I love the collaborative elements of directing as well as the leadership responsibilities, and try to apply this to everything I do. It is very important to me that those I work with as a director feel like they have a voice, and similarly in childcare I always try to make the child feel like their opinion is valued and that we are a team. When working with children I always put their safety and comfort first, and from there enjoy creating fun, meaningful memories.
