About me

My name is Kedren and I'm from Maryland. I recently graduated with my MFA and I am thrilled to be living here in NYC pursuing my dreams. I grew up playing sports for about 16 years, and very much enjoy being active! I was also exposed to the arts from a very young age. I have been a camp-counselor, an in-home therapist, and a teaching aid. I have babysat, nannied, coached, and taught children and young adults.

I have worked with children of all ages, starting with members of my family. In college, I studied Psychology and eventually fell into special education. It was then I started working with children with autism and continued primarily working with that population after college until I started acting full time. While doing In-home therapy, I primarily was assigned to families for longer term gigs, but did have a few drop-in and fill-in assignments.

After college, I joined a nannying agency and worked in their part-time division for several years. I worked with neurotypical-infants and children aged newborn to 13-years-old. I worked at large group or corporate events, and in the home with anywhere from one to four children at a time. This included traveling domestically and internationally with families on trips and overnight stays.

My hobbies include singing and dancing, baking, playing sports, and outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing. I climbed competitively in college in addition to playing soccer and being on the competitive ballroom team. I also love going to the movies and reading! I have a very outgoing personality and LOVE to laugh! I am ALL about having a good time (this includes impromptu dance parties, whip cream fights, choreographing a circus, and building EPIC tents.) I know how to have fun until the cows come home, as long as rules are being followed and respected and boundaries are being maintained.

I love being around children because they give me hope and energy and reignite wonder in my soul. In working and teaching children, there is so much gained; all that we have lost as adults in a very tough world. There is so much joy and play to be had in the world and there is no better way to have it than with young humans who are exploring their world for the first time, and for whom play comes so easily.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Baking is near and dear to my heart. I also almost went to pastry school! Working with children and having them participate in baking is great because it keeps them engaged and allows them to participate fully, follow step by step instructions, and also work on math skills. Plus it always ends in a sweet treat! I also love using music randomly and sporadically to keep energy up and to get kids more comfortable in their bodies and expressing themselves! Singing is great for that too!
