About me

I have a bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in Childhood Education and Mathematics. I am extremely passionate about children and nutrition. My affinity for children started early on in life. As a 16 years old, I worked teaching young children after school. I hold dearly the memories of being around some of my nieces and nephews, and other school age children. One of the perks of living in beautiful St Lucia were the many fun options nature provided to interact with young children. Upon leaving high school, I began working at an elementary school. Subsequently, I moved on to Teacher's College to study how children learn and develop. Soon thereafter, I moved to NYC and it's been my home for the past 18 years. All of my work experience has been with childcare related, from babysitting to tutoring elementary age children in Math and English, and now as an assistant teacher working at a very prestigious preschool in New York City - Maple Street school. 

Working with children has been incredibly rewarding! At every stage of my life there have been valuable moments I hold dearly. Additionally, I realized there is no end to learning about children and their development. Working with children has taught me patience, the fine art of balancing between similar and contradictory philosophies, and the value of being present. My philosophy as a caregiver and an educator is to teach through play; it’s the best way to understand children as people. So I say let them play!! There is true value in letting children explore and express themselves freely.
