About me

I am a third-year dual degree student at the Bank Street College of Education and Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work. Originally from Arizona, I earned my BS in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University. During the first year of the program, I interned at the Bank Street Family Center in a mixed
age infant/toddler classroom. The Bank Street Family Center is an inclusive educational childcare setting where I had the pleasure of working with children of varying developmental abilities and capacities ranging from ages 0-3 years old. During the second year of the program, I completed a Trauma-Focused Child-Parent Psychotherapy certification and began my second year internship as a Clinical Social Work Intern at the Jewish Board Harlem Children Development Center. The center is a mental health clinic for children ages 0-8 years old. My passion and love for children have led me to where I am today!

When working with children, I love to build on the child’s interest while simultaneously helping them gain more knowledge and understanding through new experiences and play. Being present with children while they discover and learn from their environment is a true gift that I do not take for granted. I do not believe in “punishment” but believe that every challenge is an opportunity to learn how about compromise and problem solving. As an educator of young children, I understand that we do not work with “just a child”. A child is a part of family and that family is a vital piece of the whole child. I believe in the importance of meeting each and every individual family and child where they are!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love hiking, going to parks and being active outdoors. I also love explore the outdoors with children. Disconnecting and exercising are very important and set a great example for children. I personally enjoy going to zoos and museums and taking kiddos to those places is always a lot of fun!
