About me

I have always been passionate about working with children! While attending college, I actively provided tutoring services for many students and families. These experiences solidified my love and commitment to childcare. Since graduating from Michigan State, I have been committed to education. I moved to New York City and quickly began a position at an after-school program in Harlem. I had the honor and privilege to teach a variety of subjects ranging from math to healthy living. Following the completion of this two year program, I transferred to a more traditional teaching role. I was able to hone my skills in clearly articulating lessons, moving student outcomes, and developing relationships with students.

However, I miss the opportunity for more unstructured interactions with children. As a result, I have intermittently pursued babysitting and tutoring positions in addition to my traditional teaching roles. Since the barrier of teacher-student relationship is not a factor, in-home childcare positions have allowed me to learn about children in a more authentic way. I look forward to establishing new relationships with SmartSitting families and their children.
