About me

As a child I spent a brief period dreaming of being a "hair cutter" (I refused to use the term hairstylist) but soon after discovered a passion for working with children. From a very young age I wanted to be a teacher! I always found joy and satisfaction in the process of imparting knowledge to others and assisting those who faced challenges to learning. Additionally, my interactions with other children were enhanced by my maternal, caring, nurturing, patient and supportive nature. For as long as I can remember, I have possessed a calm, cool, and collected temperament coupled with a desire to help people become the best versions of themselves. While facilitating this process in others, I too have become the best version of myself.

I am very cognizant of the level of responsibility necessary to work with children. There are so many seemingly unsolvable problems and unanswerable questions in the world and so often the conclusion reached is that these are "problems with society". It is important to recognize that society is built from the ground up. When working with kids, I find it valuable to treat them with respect and impart on them a sense of responsibility. Children have so much to give, share, teach and learn. It is essential to empower them and inspire them to be all that they can be. In the formative years of childhood, I hope to help each child build a strong, compassionate and knowledgeable base.

In my experiences as a babysitter, counselor and teacher, I always leave each day feeling euphoric and elevated! Children do not have to do the unlearning that many adults do. Children are the most genuine, unique, honest and fun members of society! Each experience working with a child makes me a more playful, loving, empathetic and supportive version of myself.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Exactly where I am now, but feeling more solid and grounded. I am very lucky that in my short time post-undergrad, I have found an artistic community and begun to gain confidence in taking the New York world by storm. However, New York City, the art world in NYC, and the theatre world are massive. Therefore, I have only learned a small portion of it. In five years, I hope to have met incredible artists and collaborators and to be making my own art in a confident and established way. Within these 5 years, I would also like to either attend Graduate school or to be in the process of applying. I know that I will be attending with a theatre focus, but due to the variety of ways I interact with the form (acting, directing, stage managing, producing) and the various areas of theatre that I work in (devised, immersive, technological, activist) I am not sure what my specific focus will be.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

As you can tell, I am a performer, but an artist in whole. I love sharing my artistic knowledge, skill set, and passion with the children that I work. This can exist in a variety of ways such as playing theatre games, improvising stories, or learning about humanity. This can also take the form of teaching artistic skills or inventing our own DIY crafts. I also am an avid reader and love to read books with children and help them with their schoolwork. Primarily I love to be silly in whatever way is right for the individual child, be it using our imagination, or having a ridiculous dance party.
