About me
When I was 14 I started my first job as a sitter. In charge of two elementary school-aged boys who lived in my neighborhood, it was a huge deal for me to finally be trusted to babysit. Ever since then, I have sought out opportunities to work with children.
During my high school years, I worked as both a youth lacrosse referee and as a sailing instructor. In both roles, I had the pleasure of working with and caring for children of all ages. Especially while working as a sailing instructor, my passion for working with children grew. I enjoyed being able to construct and plan a day for my students and my fellow instructors to learn more about sailing, the ocean, and to just have fun.
I am currently wrapping up my second year at New York Law School on the path to becoming a prosecutor (hopefully!). My drive to pursue a JD is rooted in my passion for helping people and working with families. During my first and second year, I have had the privilege to intern within the NYC Family Courts working with parents and children impacted by domestic abuse and sex crimes.
Before law school, I nannied full-time for a family of four (two boys + a cute puppy!) in Brooklyn. I developed an incredible relationship with the family and their sons. My responsibilities included after-school pick-up, athletic/extracurricular drop-off/pick-ups, date nights, dinner/lunch break, school-break sitting, tutoring, doctor appointment escorting, and live-in nannying during the summer. Once beginning law school, I had to make the difficult decision to step down from the position as the time I could provide was not enough for what they needed. I am still very close with the family and am happy to connect any potential families with them if they are interested in a reference!
I graduated from Connecticut College in New London, CT. Majoring in Sociology and Gender and Women's Studies, I learned more about my passion for working with children and the depths that it went to as I was fortunate enough to have many opportunities working with children during this time. Concurrently, I provided after-school care for the Dean of Students Monday-Friday between the time when they would get off the bus and when their parents would return home.
While providing care, it was important to me to really get to know the children and to create a space where they felt most comfortable in. I work to provide a secure space where it doesn't feel like they are being "babysat" but instead an environment that contained a balance of both structure, fun and independence. While I was also at the college, I provided childcare to many professors and staff members of the campus community. This ranged from providing care when children had school off to date nights and more long-term care as well. In all situations of providing care, I work to create this type of environment.
It is important to me when providing care that everyone involved feels comfortable and secure. In any situation, creating this type of environment is a top priority. It is my goal to provide the child or children with an environment where they feel like they are the priority and that their needs are both met and can be advocated for. At the same time, it is equally important to me that the relationship I have with parents is of the same standard. I am here to help you!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love the outdoors and I love to learn. Some of my favorite activities to share with children include anything outdoors from walking in the park to finding a playground to play at for a while. I also consider myself an avid reader and a student of life. I love to share that with children through reading and creating art. I have worked as a tutor for many years now and love to help others learn.
