About me

My mother has been an educator for over 30 years. For as long as I can remember, I was by her side whenever she would work with students after school in her leadership and theatre clubs. At first, I was younger than all of her students, and tried to be as helpful as possible, but was of course just an additional child to look after. Eventually, I was the same age as the students she worked with, and was considered a peer leader. Soon after that, I found myself being a year older, then two, then four and five, and I was brought on as my mom's assistant director in her after school drama club. I loved the feeling of helping children out who were younger than me, and although I was not yet an adult, I knew I needed to devote my life to working with young people in some capacity. After high school, I went on to study Theatre Education at Emerson College in Boston. It was here where I honed my skills in working with children and learned the proper approach to caring for and teaching children of all ages and stages.

I have worked with children from Pre-School age up through seniors in high school. I find joy in every single stage! When working with young people, my approach is always to reach them before I can teach them. Whether babysitting or working with a child in a school setting, I like to make sure I am on their level. Listening to their concerns, and making it clear that we are in an environment of mutual respect. Because of my love for theatre, I am a HUGE fan of play, so I tend to connect with kids through games and having a general playful spirit. Even while creating a comfortable space that is fun for children, I always promote learning and healthy lifestyles first! I believe that kids love to be around me as much as I love to be around them, and because of the mutual respect we create, I tend to have very minimal behavioral challenges. When these occur, I know that there is usually a very valid reason behind them, so I like to listen first, talk later.
I absolutely love young people because it has been embedded in me since I was young(er) myself!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

The activities and skills I love to teach and share with children usually go back to drama/theatre and leadership. I love to connect with children through theatre and the arts, and somehow always bring the skills we learn into the real world. I love problem solving with children, and helping them to become stronger leaders.
