About me

Hello hello! My name is Jordan and I proudly hail from Baltimore, Maryland - a small, tough city with a creative, big heart. I grew up with a loving Mom and Dad, older brother, and younger sister. I was a funny, imaginative kid - always making my family laugh and playing outside for hours in the small patch of woods next to our house in the county.

I went to a public high school and then a private college in Maryland called Stevenson University where I majored in Business Communications and minored in English, and it was there I became pretty certain I wanted to be writer. After graduating I applied to MFA programs in New York and ended up attending The New School where I earned an MFA in Creative Writing with a focus on fiction from '11-'13. Since then, I've been working as a Jill of All Trades to pay the bills, but mostly as a freelance copywriter / nanny.

I have been watching kiddos for...20 years?! Time flies when you're havin' fun! I started babysitting as a teenager and almost every job I've had since has revolved around kid-world. When I moved to NY to get an MFA, I worked at a beloved kid's vintage clothing store in Williamsburg. Through getting to know all those customers, I ended up babysitting for what felt like all of North Brooklyn. I quickly fell in love with how unique and wonderful New York kids are, and ended up being a nanny to one wonderful family for SIX whole years.

I have the most experience with children age 4 - preteen, and have handled literally everything that can occur while watching children. From the daily basics of school-pickup, train travel, play date maneuvering (navigationally and emotionally lol), enforcing home-work time in the face of tired tantrums, cooking simple dinners, bath-time, and cozy wozy bedtime - to more advanced nanny ninja tricks like keeping calm in medical emergencies planning full days of JORDAN CAMP during summers out of school!

I find childcare wildly rewarding and spending time with kids very inspiring for my creative brain. My childcare philosophy is to treat kids like the individual, whole people they are, and to encourage self expression and self confidence / love!
