About me

I am a graduate student at Columbia University, an aspiring teacher of literature and writing, and an experienced, loving, and fun babysitter. I come from a big family and grew up helping my relatives take care of my younger siblings and cousins, and I have always loved spending time with children. As I got older, I sought more opportunities to work with kids in various capacities, and developed a passion for nannying and babysitting. I babysit because I truly love the job and love children, and I bring that joy and enthusiasm with me each and every time I babysit. My focus is to connect with children and engage with them in ways that are fun and enriching. I want the children in my care to have as much fun as possible when we are together. I have worked for four years as a summer camp counselor, and I always try to bring that spirit into my babysitting, and make everyday life as fun as summer camp.

I am interested in education and hope to one day become a teacher of literature and writing. I bring these passions into my childcare jobs with a focus on creative play that is both joyful and enriching. In addition to my sitter/nanny childcare experiences, I've worked for several years as a reading tutor and teaching assistant in elementary schools and after-school programs, as a creative writing instructor for elementary school students, and as a mentor and math teacher for middle and high school students. I believe in learning that is creative and driven by children's curiosities and interests, and babysitting is a great opportunity to help children engage in that kind of education. When kids ask me questions I don't know the answer to, I always suggest ways that we can learn about the topic together. I love going to the library with children and finding books about subjects they are interested in. I also encourage going out into the world to explore something they may be curious about. I always try to capitalize on the teachable moments in every day life, and encourage kids of all ages to talk about and process their feelings and experiences so they can learn from them. I think talking about feelings is so important, and I always try to support children and validate what they are going through.

As your babysitter or nanny, you can always count on me to be 100% present and engaged. I am very punctual and reliable, and I truly love the job, so it's easy to show up on time every day with a big smile on my face. The safety of children in my care is always my top priority, and I will go above and beyond to ensure kids' needs are met. I have experience handling nut allergies as well as caring for children with special needs. I have several years of experience nannying for children of all ages, and I love changing diapers and singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider as much as I love helping older kids work through a complicated math problem on their homework, or playing soccer or making a movie together. Whatever the ages and interests of the children in my care, my basic principles are the same. I am focused on both safety and fun, I meet children at their level and I engage with them fully. And I consistently encourage children to follow their personal interests and curiosities in order to make our time together as joyful and enriching as it can be.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Teaching literature and writing to young people

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Science experiments, cooking and baking projects, arts and crafts, and sports of all kinds (I especially love tennis, soccer, baseball/softball, basketball, biking, swimming, and ice skating). I always try to do creative projects with kids while babysitting. Some past favorites have been helping kids create their own books, and writing and shooting movies together, where kids create the story, then act, direct, and use the camera. I love sharing the joys of reading and writing with children, whether in a regular tutoring position or just for fun during playtime.
