About me

I am the oldest of three children and the oldest cousin in my generation, so very early on I became the family babysitter-by-default. I love learning from the children I spend time with and sharing with them my love of songs, games, and pretend play. I am particularly interested in working with children with special needs. In Seattle, I worked as a peer tutor for an Autism Program and a camp counselor for children with behavioral health challenges. During my time in these positions, I learned much about positive reinforcement, handling tantrums, and curbing homesickness. As a vegan, I am well versed and comfortable handling allergies and different dietary needs. Since working with children with special needs in Seattle, I have been a morning nanny (breakfast and school drop off), an after-school nanny (school pick-up and dinner time), an occasional weekend babysitter, a date night babysitter and everything in between. I have experience working with infants through preteens, but especially loved my time working with toddlers!

I am an actor/singer/poet originally from Seattle who moved to the east coast to pursue theatre. I attended the Hartt School at the University of Hartford where I graduated with a BFA in Acting. I am now Brooklyn-based and eager to encourage East Coasters to recycle and wear Birkenstocks! As a writer and performer, imaginary worlds and playing pretend are an integral part of my artistry. I love working with children who remind me the importance of curiosity and imagination. I enjoy vegan cooking, trying to make friends on the subway, being outside, and supporting my friends' art. Creating meaningful, lasting relationships with families is rewarding on a personal level because I am so far away from home, and an artistic level as I learn more about humanity.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I am currently saving up for Yoga Teacher Training, so in 5 years I hope to be a certified and practiced Yoga Teacher! I also hope to achieve some of my writing/publishing goals, have worked on an HBO tv show, and be starting to save up for a home where I can raise my own family. I am very excited to pursue acting, writing, yoga and eventually motherhood.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

With the kids I babysit I like to play imaginary games (I have lots of goofy voices), sing and dance (especially to Moana or Hamilton), run around outside or go for walks, read stories (again, the goofy voices come in handy) and cook yummy dinners! It is important to me to create structure (with a schedule and with very clear rules) and to encourage children to use their words to communicate their feelings and needs. I especially advocate for the use of kind words when children are communicating with each other.
