About me

When we set clear and consistent expectations, a child stops reacting to the often unsettling feelings of mixed messaging and a sense of freedom emerges, from here a child begins to flourish. We then must lean in and pay close attention to how they learn, how they explore the world around them, and what peaks their curiosity. Nourishing these attributes and using them as a vessel to teach and model all things developmental, educational, physical, social, and emotional. This is the foundation of setting children up for success in school, and in the world.

My 20 years of working with children as a nanny and a teacher has helped me cultivate a keen understanding of a child’s needs. In short, I get kids. Working extensively with all age groups, a rich background and knowledge (trained in ABA, and PCIT methods) in caring for children with special needs, developmental delays, medical issues, behavior challenges, sensitivity issues, gifted and talented, and the vibrant, spirited child that is full of wonder and energy.

Focusing on Waldorf, Montessori, and REI principles, I teach young children through imaginative, creative and child-led play. With an emphasis on building frustration tolerance, flexibility (being open to another child's activity choice), transitions, etc. With school age children I refine and build upon those skills. Establishing healthy homework habits, limiting/eliminating screen time, healthy peer-to-peer relationships, problem solving, critical thinking, self-skills, and life-skills.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I am confident that working with families and children is exactly where I want to be and where I am supposed to be. Working in homes helping children become the best version of themselves. The capacity at which I do this work may redefine itself. A nanny, a behavior coach, a therapist, are all there when I envision my next five years.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I find out what a child’s interests are and find appropriate activities that compliment those interests. I often read the same chapter books that my charges are reading so we can discuss the story together this also inspires kids to keep reading. My background as a teacher and tutor has given me the ability to help establish healthy homework routines and study skills. I am an excellent swimming and bike rider and have helped many children master these skills. I played soccer, basketball, and softball throughout school along with theater and implement these into my time with children as much as possible. Volunteering is a big part of my life, giving back to the community is important to me and I have brought along some of my charges to community gardens, Habit for Humanity sites, and other various nonprofits. I share with children my love for nature with visits to the Botanical Gardens, stopping to look at beautiful flowers around the city, and making homemade terrariums and/or growing herbs and tending to them as they grow.
