About me

Hi, I'm Paige! I'm a Brooklyn-based nanny, writer and lover of facilitating play from birth. I began working in infant daycare during college and landed my first nanny position with a 4 month old when I was a senior in college. Working with that little one ignited my passion for child-led caregiving. I committed to using the Montessori method and creating invitations to play! Since then, I've continued to work with children from birth, building upon my knowledge of child development by taking courses such as the Foundational Newborn Care course through Newborn Care Solutions and Sleepwonders for Professionals. Often, I work as an NCS in the night and a nanny in the day and I love it! I hope to find a position I can grow in for many years to come where I can utilize my experience with children from the newborn stage all the way through school-age!

I love nannying in NYC because there is no shortage of activities and places to explore! Having nannied here for five years, I'm very familiar with classes, museums, libraries, parks and other places of interest. My nanny kids and I always spend ample time outside year-round and in any weather. In addition to this, I bring an indoor activity which include process art, sensory play and books all themed to line up with the current holiday or time of year.

When working with infants and young children, I believe it's important to follow the child and meet them where they are at developmentally. I do Montessori toy rotation with my families to keep the amount of toys relevant. If a baby is learning to crawl, the toys available to them should encourage movement! I follow gentle/positive parenting and adhere to the prevailing trends in child psychology and early childhood education that favor redirection over punishment and developing age-appropriate independence. I always keep a log of a little one's day so you can know how they're progressing!

My current contracts will be finished by April 2024 and after then I am on the lookout for my next NCS job or nanny job, although ideally I could find an NCS job that moved into becoming the child’s full-time nanny!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I will continue to split my time between nannying and writing. Maybe we will have a dog? We will have to see given the small living quarters that NYC apartments offer. I hope to remain in the lives of the children I nanny for for many years to come.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Depending on the ages of the children, I do object permanence activities, taste-safe sensory bins, water play, process art, baking projects and more. I also like to have themes (such as dinosaurs, space, bugs, the weather, colors etc) to base my activities around. I think it’s important to teach kids age-appropriate lessons about consent and I always hope to pass on values of feminism, non-violence and LGBT inclusion through my activities. I also value self-advocacy and teaching children the joys of independent play so that they can take time to recharge.
