About me

For as long as I can remember, I have loved working with children from various backgrounds. My passion began when I was a camp counselor as a teenager and completely flourished from there. I was given the opportunity to begin working with campers ages 8-14, and truly grasped onto the idea of becoming a trusting and important figure in their lives. I felt as though it was what I was supposed to be doing. Then, I decided to pursue a career in education by obtaining my Master's degree in Special and General Education, and from there working as a Special Education teacher. I am filled with more joy at my job than I think some people may feel in a lifetime. When I am working with a student and I see even the slightest spark of understanding or joy happen, I feel worthy, and that allows me to understand I am exactly where I am supposed to be. My favorite aspect about working with children outside of school, is how much you learn about a child when you are with them in their comfortable social environment. They are the most authentic version of themselves, and that is when I believe an amazing relationship can really develop. I do my best to be both a friend and a trustworthy individual for families, so they never have to worry when leaving their child with me.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to be more settled in my career, whether that means gaining more professional experience or moving on to another opportunity in the same field! I also could see myself being married, and perhaps with a child of my own (or at least a dog!) =)

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love sharing my passion of reading with children, and how much fun it can truly be. I think it is an activity that at times is seen as mundane, but can really bring so much joy if presented the right way. I also appreciate following a child's lead and seeing what kind of activities they might be interested in!
